What the index reads
It moves during the game
A lead in the third quarter is worth part of a win, not all of one. The live adjustment scales with the margin and how much clock is left, then settles the moment the game ends.
Schedule is priced in
Beating a .700 team counts more than beating a .300 team. In college football the schedule component carries almost twice the weight it does in the NBA, because the gap between schedules is far wider.
Early records get discounted
A 2–0 start doesn't outrank a 9–1 season. Scores pull toward the league average until a team has played enough for the sample to mean something.
Nothing is hidden
Every score shows its five parts and every weight is published. If you disagree with the rating, you can see exactly which component you'd argue with.
